Need Help Choosing the Best Baby Stroller?

To me, the best baby stroller is a stroller that is lightweight and convenient. However, it may not be the right fit for you and your family. That is why I thought it would be a good idea to discuss how to find the best baby stroller for your family.

The key to finding the right infant stroller is to remember to do your homework before buying a stroller. Now you may be thinking that doing all this “research” is too much. But trust me, it will be worth it. Knowing what you want in a child stroller beforehand will save you time, money, and your sanity!

Here are some questions you should ask yourself before getting just any ol’ stroller.

  • How many little ones are going to be in the stroller? What are their size and weight? You can get a stroller for as many as 6 babies! Wow! That would be some workout!

And remember, the higher the weight limit is on a stroller, the longer you can use it through the toddler years.

  • What’s your stroller budget? Strollers come in numerous styles and with lots of accessories. Therefore on average, prices can vary from $20 for an umbrella stroller, to $300 for a heavy duty one. And some high-end strollers can cost as much as $700!

  • How will you use your stroller? Will you mostly use it for shopping, jogging, or running errands? Do you and your baby live in a big city where walking is your main mode of transportation?

  • How often are you going to use it? If you plan on using a stroller everyday, one with a heavier duty frame may be the best choice for you. On the other hand, if you just need a stroller for occasional use, a lower costing umbrella stroller may suffice.

  • Where will you be storing it? Will you leave the stroller in you car or will you store it in the house? This is another thing to consider because if you will be taking it in and out of your trunk often, a heavy, cumbersome stroller will be a pain to move.

  • How easy is it to use? When I was looking for a stroller, how easy a stroller could fold was the deciding factor. I wanted a stroller that I could fold with one hand or foot so I could keep my other hand free to hold my little one.

I also wanted a stroller that I could easily load into the car. If it was too bulky, it would not load easily.

  • Is it safe? Look for a model that is well designed and sturdy so it's not prone to tipping over. One way of testing how sturdy a stroller is, is put something (such as a purse) on the back of the stroller and see if it will tip over. If it does, it's not the safest.

It is also best to pick out a stroller that has a 3-point or 5-point harness safety belt. Although a 3-point harness will do, a 5-point harness is best for infants and active kiddies.

Another thing to consider is how easy it is to use the brakes. It should lock and not move, even if the stroller is parked on an incline.

The key is KNOWING WHAT YOU WANT IN A STROLLER BEFORE YOU BUY. It would be a bummer to be stuck with a stroller that does not fit yours or your little one’s lifestyle. So don’t be in a rush. Know what you want in a stroller before you buy. This will save you time, money and frustration.
