Tasty alternatives for the little one who is allergic to milk.

Having a little one that is allergic to milk is no laughing matter. But relax. Just because your child has a milk allergy, does not mean he/she cannot still enjoy all the flavors of food.

The key to preventing an allergic reaction is to stay away from milk. However, this may be easier said than done. For example, keeping a little one away from ice cream or pizza might be next to impossible. (Especially if he/she has not had their nap.)

But it is ok. Your little one can still enjoy that creamy, milk taste without the dangers of an allergic reaction. The key is avoidance. And luckily in this day and age, there are milk substitutes.

Here is a list of milk substitutes that you can use instead of cow’s (or goat's) milk products.

Dairy Products Dairy Substitutes
Butter Or Margarine Earth Balance Natural Buttery Sticks
Cream cheese Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese
Milk Chocolate Dark chocolate (kosher labels that say “pareve”)
Cheese Vegan Gourmet Cheese
Creamy Salad Dressings Organicville Non-Dairy Ranch Dressing (try their other flavors too!)
Sour Cream Tofutti Sour Supreme
Ice Cream Good Karma Organic Rice Divine Mint Chocolate Swirl
Yogurt WholeSoy & Co. Soy Yogurt
Cow Or Goat Milk DariFree Non Dairy Milk Alternative

All of these milk substitutes are yummy. And having a dairy allergy does not mean that your little one will not be able to enjoy the tastier side of life. So take this as an opportunity to explore all the great foods that life has to offer.
